Engineering Challenges

An outdoor structure has to do two jobs at once. It has to hold what people store, which is a question of span, wall rigidity and door clearance. It also has to look current, and garden styles change faster than tooling does. Both decide whether the product sells. At DiBiBi both are treated as engineering constraints from the first drawing, not handled one after the other.

Material Innovation

Material decisions start at sourcing. Where recycled resin, metal or aluminium can do the job, DiBiBi specifies at least 50% recycled content, so the figure can be documented when a buyer's specification requires it. Recycled feedstock does not behave like virgin material. Batch variation affects wall strength and colour consistency. Material choice and structural design therefore get settled together.

R&D Capability

Our R&D work covers both material families. On the resin side that means moulding parameters, additive behaviour and cycle time. On the metal side it means steel and aluminium, from bending through to finishing. Running both in house matters, because a structure that works in resin and fails in metal is not finished.

Structure Innovation

Appearance, roof pitch, panel proportion and the shed function all change with the market. Every one of those changes affects the frame. DiBiBi keeps a 60-person structural engineering team for this reason. Their job is to make a shed that looks current, holds up under wind and snow, and still goes together without a second person.

Technology Innovation

Choosing a machine is a materials decision before it is a capital one. DiBiBi compares processing equipment against the rigidity of the material it will actually run. A press specified for softer stock will not hold tolerance on the grades we use. We fix the test method at the same time we choose the machine. The chain runs from raw fabrication through to part-level quality checks, so a tolerance set at design is one the floor can measure.
